The multi-award winning Swaledale Cheese Co has suffered another tragedy with the death at the weekend of managing director and co-founder Mandy Reed.
The 47-year-old was found dead near her Yorkshire home early on Sunday morning after a family night out. This morning police were still trying to establish the cause of her death.
Mandy Reed was seen as an inspirational figure in the business community after taking sole charge of Swaledale Cheese Co following the sudden death of her husband David from a heart attack in 2005.
The pair had founded the business in 1987 and created a range of highly rated artisan cheeses.
Swaledale Blue was among the Supergold winners at the 2011 World Cheese Awards, and the company took four medals in last year’s British Cheese Awards.
