Alex James is set to launch a new cows’ milk cheese through Cheese Cellar, which has also secured exclusive distribution for the Blur bassist’s whole artisan range.
Cheese Cellar has worked with James and cheese-maker Pete Humphries at White Lake Cheeses, to develop the Guernsey milk Goddess, which is washed in cider brandy creating an orange rind.
The 200g cheese (RRP £6.95) is said to be at its best at between eight and 10 weeks old when it has developed a firm, buttery texture.
The other two cheeses – both made with goats’ milk – in the Alex James Presents ‘artisan’ range have also had their recipes tweaked.
Farleigh Wallop, which is rolled in thyme, also now comes in a log format (210g, RRP £8.30) but Little Wallop will remain as a round wrapped in vine leaves (140g, RRP £6.65).
From September, Cheese Cellar will be exclusively distributing all three cheeses for Alex James Presents.
