Staal Smokehouse was among the big winners at this year’s Deliciouslyorkshire Awards as the Long Riston-based firm was named Best Newcomer.
The smokehouse, which is in its first year of production, also took the best fish & seafish category with its hot smoked salmon.
St Helen’s Farm – which supplies its goats’ milk products to several supermarket chains – was named supreme winner for its goat’s butter.
Other product category winners announced at the regional food group’s ceremony – held last week at the National Railway Museum in York – included Curry Cuisine for its luxury mango chutney and Just Desserts for its Landlord fruit cake.
Meanwhile, Cryer & Stott Cheesemongers was named best wholesaler/distributor and Keelham Farm Shop in Thornton, West Yorkshire won the award for best retailer of local products.
